The Sick Puppies are an Australian rock band , founded in 1997. After lead singer Shimon Moore left in October 2014, the band now consists of singer Bryan Scott, bassist Emma Anzai and drummer Mark Goodwin.

history

Singer Shimon and bassist Emma met in the music room of their high school in Mosman , a suburb of Sydney , because they had both put him on for band rehearsals at the same time. They quickly became friends and played cover versions of u. a. Green Day , Silverchair and Rage Against the Machine , first with Shimon on drums and Emma as guitarist. The instrumental line-up changed with Chris Mileski, a drummer. Shimon then switched to guitar and vocals and Emma to electric bass . They quickly started to play their own songs and gave themselves the current band name.

With their debut album Welcome to the real world they won the Triple J Unearthed band competition, which resulted in a management contract with Paul Stepanek Management . Shortly thereafter, the band moved to Los Angeles without drummer Chris , who could not leave Australia at the time. They found current drummer and American Mark Goodwin through an ad on Craigslist .

The follow- up album Dressed up as Life was released for the first time on a major label . With the Free Hugs Campaign was the single extraction All the Same to a great success in the United States .

In December 2008 the band retired to the studio and wrote their third studio album, Tri-Polar , which was released on July 14, 2009. In Great Britain , the album was not released until almost two years later, on April 4th 2011, which is atypical for Australian and US newcomers .

Several concerts followed, including at the Hurricane Festival 2011.

Bassist Emma Anzai

Her fourth studio album was released on July 16, 2013. It bears the name Connect and entered the US charts at number 17.
On October 20, 2014, the band announced the exit of front man Shimon Moore on their Facebook page. However, he claimed a week later that he had never left the band and had learned through the statement that he was no longer in the band.
