history

The Siegfried settlement was founded around 1720 as a miners' settlement in the Riechberg district and is therefore often referred to as the Riechberger Siegfried . Already in 1703 the Zechendorf miners' settlement belonging to Bräunsdorf was founded on the eastern bank of the Große Striegis . Siegfried was named after the first Siegfried treasure trove, built in 1715 . The Siegfried Bergrevier was combined with the Bräunsdorfer Revier in 1814 . The mining industry was shut down in 1864 , with numerous dumps still bearing witness to the past.

The Große Striegis near Siegfried formed an administrative border for centuries. While the colliery village belonging to Bräunsdorf on the east bank belonged to the Freiberg district office , Siegfried on the west bank in the Riechberg district was subordinate to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Nossen until 1856 . From 1856 Siegfried belonged to the Hainichen court office and from 1875 to the Döbeln administration , which was renamed the Döbeln district in 1939.

With the first district reform in the GDR, Siegfried came to the district of Flöha as part of the Riechberg community in 1950 . With the second district reform in the GDR, the municipality of Riechberg was incorporated into the Hainichen district in the Chemnitz district (renamed Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ). Since 1990, Riechberg and Siegfried belonged to the Saxon district of Hainichen , which was added to the district of Mittweida in 1994 and in 2008 to the district of central Saxony. On January 1, 1994, Riechberg was incorporated into Hainichen with Siegfried.
