Siegfried Berghaus

Siegfried Berghaus (born January 24, 1945 in Olomouc ) is a former German politician ( CDU ). He was chairman of the CDU district council in Leipzig and Berlin .

Life

Berghaus, son of an opera singer, learned the profession of lathe operator and attended a technical school, which he graduated as a financial economist. In 1978 he graduated from the Academy for Political Science and Law with a degree in political science. He did military service in the NVA and was then a technologist in the VEB Polygraph Druckmaschinenwerke Planeta Radebeul .

In 1968 Berghaus joined the CDU. In 1970 he became the deputy mayor of Radebeul , in 1973 he became a member of the Freital district council, where he was responsible for housing policy. From 1980 to 1982 he was chairman of the district executive committee of the CDU Freital.

From March 1982 to March 1989 he was chairman of the district board of the CDU Leipzig. In October 1982 he was elected a member of the main board at the 15th party congress of the CDU. From June 1986 to 1989 he was also a member of the Leipzig District Assembly . On April 5, 1989, he succeeded Dietrich Voigtberger, who died in December 1988, as chairman of the CDU district association in Berlin, and on June 26, 1989, he was elected a member of the presidium of the main board of the CDU. On November 10, 1989, when the CDU leadership was re-elected, with Lothar de Maizière at the helm, he was again trusted as a member of the Presidium. On January 4, 1990, at an extraordinary consultation, the CDU district board confirmed the release of Berghaus as chairman of the district board and commissioned Eberhard Engler to perform his duties as chairman.
