Max Reutter

Max Reutter (born August 24, 1920 in Berlin ; † January 12, 1988 ) was a German politician ( CDU ). He was a city councilor and deputy mayor of Berlin as well as a member of the GDR regional chamber .

Life

Reutter, son of a working-class family, learned the profession of lathe operator . He later qualified as a mechanical engineer.

After the end of the war, Reutter joined the CDU and worked for the Berlin magistrate . From 1950 to 1952 he was the municipal director and head of the housing and social affairs department . From 1952 to 1954 he was chairman of the Berlin-Köpenick district association of the CDU. From 1952 to 1955 Reutter acted as chairman of the Berlin district association of the CDU. He was a long-time member of the main CDU board. From 1955 to 1958 he was a district councilor in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg . Then he was Deputy Mayor of Berlin until 1981 and was responsible for transport, road and water management (from 1963) and for international connections in the communal area (from 1971). From 1953 to 1986 Reutter was a city councilor in Berlin and from 1954 to 1958 a member of the regional chamber.

From 1982 to 1988 he was also the deputy chairman of the Central Committee of People's Solidarity , member of the Presidium of the League for Friendship of Nations and Vice President of the German-Nordic Society .
