Siegfried Grünwald

Siegfried Grünwald (born May 20, 1938 in Loppnow , district of Greifenberg i. Pom. ) Is a former German politician ( SED ). He was chairman of the council of the Magdeburg district .

Life

Grünwald, son of a farm laborer and a housewife, attended elementary school in Zielitz . In 1952 he became a member of the FDJ . Between 1953 and 1955 he completed an apprenticeship as a lathe operator and then worked in this profession in Magdeburg until 1957 , where he also completed his secondary school leaving certificate. Between 1957 and 1963 Grünwald did voluntary service with the NVA . He resigned as a sergeant major .

In 1962 he joined the SED. From 1963 to 1967 he worked as a deputy department head, from 1967 to 1969 he was a council member and head of the local utilities department at the council of the Wolmirstedt district . Between 1965 and 1970 he completed a distance learning course at the Plauen Engineering School , which he graduated as an engineer and economist in mechanical engineering. From 1969 to 1971 he was chairman of the Wolmirstedt district planning commission, then from January 1972 to November 1976 first deputy chairman of the Magdeburg district planning commission. Between 1972 and 1977 he completed another correspondence course, this time at the German Academy for Political Science and Law in Potsdam-Babelsberg , graduating with a degree in political science.

From November 1976 to August 1985 Grünwald acted as the first deputy chairman of the council of the Magdeburg district. 1982/83 he studied at the party college "Karl Marx" . From September 2, 1985 to June 11, 1990 he was chairman of the Magdeburg District Council. From November 1976 to the end of May 1990 he was also a member of the Magdeburg District Assembly . On October 24, 1985 he was co-opted as a member of the SED district leadership in Magdeburg and elected to the secretariat of the SED district leadership.

On November 18, 1989, Grünwald shook hands with Lower Saxony's Prime Minister Ernst Albrecht at the Zicherie / Böckwitz border crossing . In January 1990 both announced to the press in Hanover that a permanent committee of representatives of the Lower Saxony state government and the Magdeburg district council had been formed for future cooperation.

After 1990 Grünwald worked in product development.
