Sigmund von Sallwürk
Ernst Sigmund von Sallwürk (born April 12, 1874 in Baden-Baden ; died December 6, 1944 in Halle (Saale) ) was a German painter and graphic artist.
Life
Sigmund von Sallwürk was a son of the pedagogue Ernst von Sallwürk . He attended high school in Karlsruhe and studied painting at the Karlsruhe Art Academy with Leopold von Kalckreuth as his master class and in Munich at Friedrich Fehr's private art school . From 1903 von Sallwürk lived as an academic painter in Halle and made portraits. Von Sallwürk also worked as an illustrator of books. In 1940 he received a commission from Heinrich Winkelmann for a series of paintings of people from the history of mining for the German Mining Museum in Bochum .
