The Silbersee is a groundwater-fed still water in a former basalt quarry south of the road 911 between Lippe and Emmerzhausen . To the south is the Höllenkopf (628 m above sea level). 90% of the lake is in the municipality of Burbach ( North Rhine-Westphalia ), the remaining 10% is in the municipality of Daaden ( Rhineland-Palatinate ). The lake has neither an inflow nor an outflow.

There are some species of fish in the lake. In addition to carp , perch and tench, there are also freshwater crabs . The water is quite clear even in summer.

Since 1998, the lake is shared by the diving club Hickengrund , the DLRG Betzdorf - Churches and the diving group Daaden leased. The lease is 0 euros per year.

Until a few years ago, the lake was a popular recreational destination for the local population. Entering the area around the lake is currently prohibited, except for club members. The main reason for the ban was probably the pollution of the area surrounding the lake with rubbish from the numerous visitors.
