Silthiofam is a chemical compound from the group of thiophenecarboxamides.

Extraction and presentation

Silthiofam can be obtained from 3-chlorobutan-2-one and methyl 3-methoxyacrylate .

use

Silthiofam is a fungicide developed by Monsanto and launched in 1999 . The active ingredient works by inhibiting ATP production in the mitochondria . It prevents the release of ATP through the impermeable inner mitochondrial membrane by translocases .

Silthiofam is used in seed dressings against black- leggedness, which is caused by the fungus Gaeumannomyces graminis . Silthiofam has a protective and long-lasting effect.

Admission

In Switzerland and Austria there is no approval, in Germany, however, a plant protection product with Silthiofam as an active ingredient is approved (trade name Latitude ).
