Sim , real name Simon Jacques Eugène Berryer (born July 21, 1926 in Cauterets , † September 6, 2009 in Saint-Raphaël ), was a French actor , comedian , singer , author and writer .

Life

Simon Berryer spent the first years of his childhood in Ancenis , where his father worked as a projectionist . The family later moved to Nantes , where Simon graduated from the Lycée Leloup-Bouhier . Like his father, he first decided to work as a projectionist in 1946.

Sim had a small, round, bald head. His lean face with dark eyes, a big nose and a wide, narrow-lipped mouth was very agile and capable of the funniest grimaces. He wore his funny looks with humor and self-irony. “Elle est chouette, ma gueule” - “she's great, my face” became his catchphrase, which became widely known in France. He published his first book under this title in 1983. He looked at himself in a mirror and realized that his head could be a livelihood, Sim said of himself.

His comedic talent was discovered by Jean Nohain, an employee of the state television ORTF , who hired him to participate in the program 36 chandelles . This was followed by an engagement in the variety shows by Guy Lux , where he played the Baronne de la Tronche-en-biais . In the early 1960s he appeared in various youth programs.

In 1969 he played a role in the movie Une veuve en or by Michel Audiard . In the 1970 film Elle boît pas, elle fume pas, elle drague pas ... mais elle cause by the same director, he appears as a sexton who disguises himself in a dragonfly costume. In 1971 he appeared in Musketeer with blow and stab (Les mariés de l'an II) by Jean-Paul Rappeneau . In the same year his first of three records, J'aime pas les Rhododendrons, was released .

With his performances in the RTL telecast Grosses Têtes from 1977 he was in France to fame. For his parody of the film Grease , the record Où est ma ch'mise grise , he received the gold record in 1979 . His third record Quoi, ma gueule was released in 1980. This was followed by film roles in Pinot simple flic by Gérard Jugnot in 1984 and in 1990 the poetic role as flute player in La voce della luna by Federico Fellini .

On the theater stage he appeared in two plays by his friend Victor Lanoux , and as a writer and director from 1992 with his own play Une cloche en or with more than 350 performances. He became known to the German audience as Methusalix in the two Asterix films Asterix and Obelix against Caesar and Asterix at the Olympic Games . From 2007 he was seen again on television, in the show Louis la brocante on France 3 . Sim died on September 6, 2009 in the hospital in Saint-Raphaël of a pulmonary embolism as a result of pneumonia .
