Simon Poh Hoon Seng

Simon Peter Poh Hoon Seng (born April 15, 1963 in Sri Aman , Malaysia ) is a Malaysian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Kuching .

Life

Simon Poh Hoon Seng attended the seminary of the Archdiocese of Kuching and received on 31 July 1988, the sacrament of Holy Orders . He then worked in various parishes until 2002 in pastoral care, interrupted by a study visit to Rome. From 1994 to 1996 he studied at the Pontifical Urban University and obtained a degree in missiology .

From 2002 to 2008 he was director of the archbishop's commission for vocational pastoral care , and from 2004 he was also a spiritual adviser to the commission for youth pastoral care . Since 2004 he has been chancellor of the diocesan curia and lecturer in missiology at the seminary of Kuching. In addition to his membership in various commissions of the archdiocese, he has been the cathedral priest at Kuching Cathedral since 2011 .

Pope Francis appointed him auxiliary bishop in Kuching and titular bishop of Sfasferia on July 9, 2015 . He received his episcopal ordination on September 24th of the same year by the Archbishop of Kuching, John Ha Tiong Hock . Co- consecrators were its predecessors Peter Chung Hoan Ting and the bishop of Sandakan , Julius Dusin Gitom .

Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Kuching on March 4, 2017. The inauguration took place on March 20 of the same year.
