Sinngrund is the name of a nature reserve in the valley section of the same name in the Main-Spessart district in Bavaria .

The approximately 379 hectare nature reserve Sinngrund is located in the Spessart Nature Park on the lower reaches of the River Sinn between Obersinn and Gemünden am Main . The protected area is divided into eight sub-areas, which are separated by the towns of Obersinn, Mittelinn , Burgsinn , Rieneck and Schaippach as well as the state road 2304 and the high-speed line Hanover-Würzburg . In the north, the Bavarian nature reserve Sinngrund continues in the Hessian Sinnwiesen of Altengronau .

The Sinngrund nature reserve was designated in April 1999. The natural sense flows through a wide meadow valley with larger wet meadow areas in the protected area . There are backwaters and alluvial forest remains in the valley floor . Germany's largest autochthonous population of chess flowers is located in the Sinngrund nature reserve, as well as the only known place of growth of the strand-leaved water fennel in Bavaria. The Sinngrund is the focus area for the beaver population in the Spessart .
