Skeeter McKitterick
Skeeter McKitterick (born July 4, 1946 in San Francisco ) is a retired American racing driver .
Career
McKitterick began his career at the age of twelve in karting, which was still young at the time . He won his first monopostor race in 1968 in a Formula Junior - Lotus 22 at the Stardust International Raceway in Las Vegas . By the end of the 1960s, he was victorious in more than 20 Formula Junior, Formula Ford and Formula 3 races , winning the Formula 3 championship of the Formula Racing Association . The American competed in monopostor races until 1977, during which time he won the Formula B championship as a works driver for Alfa Romeo North America in a McLaren Mk4A with an Alfa Romeo engine.
From 1977 onwards he only competed in sports car races. His first place on the top three podium was second overall in the 1977 Mid-Ohio 3 Hours ; drove out as a partner of Jacky Ickx in a Porsche 935 . In 1979 he was ninth overall in the 12-hour race at Sebring and eighth in the 24-hour race at Le Mans . With second place overall at Sebring in 1981 , he achieved his best placement in an international sports car race. In 1982 he drove the Rondeau M382 in the IMSA GTP series and achieved third place in the 100-mile race at Sears Point, the best result for this racing vehicle in this racing series.
He drove sports car races until 1987 and ended his professional racing career in 1988 after finishing 16th overall in the 2-hour race in Del Mar.
