The Gmina wiejska Skierniewice is a rural municipality in the Polish Voivodeship Łódź and in the Powiat Skierniewicki (district). The seat of the rural municipality is the independent town of Skierniewice , which belongs to neither the district nor the municipality. The Gmina has an area of ​​131.7 km² and 7585 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2019).

The rural municipality borders on the municipalities and localities Bolimów , Głuchów , Godzianów , Łyszkowice, Maków , Nieborów, Nowy Kawęczyn , Puszcza Mariańska, Rawa Mazowiecka and the city of Skierniewice. 29% of the municipality is forest, on its website Gmina describes itself as a green municipality . There are three nature reserves in the municipality, one of them on the Rawka river .
