Slipway Fires is the third album by the English - Swedish band Razorlight . It was released on November 3rd, 2008 and was recorded at Air Studios founded by George Martin . The album marked the international breakthrough for the band and reached high chart positions across Europe.

Stylistically, the album moves away from the band's garage rock past and approaches more polished pop , which has been compared to Snow Patrol . The first single Wire to Wire in particular was an international success and reached high chart positions. The second single, Hostage of Love , didn't come close to that success.

criticism

The reviews have been mostly negative. Matthias Wüntscher from cdstarts.de described the album as a "failure". Andreas Bättig from Laut.de said that Slipway Fires is not a bad album, but "the few pearls on Slipway Fire" only include Wire to Wire and Hostage of Love . Allmusic's Andrew Leahy called the album as little "dirty" as Fleetwood Mac did in the early 1980s . He awarded two and a half stars out of five. Metacritic.com awarded 52 out of 100 possible points based on 15 reviews.
