The gmina wiejska Sochaczew is an independent rural municipality in Poland in the powiat Sochaczewski in the Masovian Voivodeship . Its seat is in the city of Sochaczew . The rural community, to which the city of Sochaczew itself does not belong, has an area of 91.4 km², on which (as of June 30, 2019) 10,944 people live.
The village of Żelazowa Wola is known as the birthplace of the composer Frédéric Chopin (1810–1849). At that time the place belonged to the Brochów municipality .

The area of the rural community is divided into a western and an eastern part by the town of Sochaczew. It is located 50 kilometers west of Warsaw . The Bzura runs through its territory.
history
From 1975 to 1998 the rural community belonged to the Skierniewice Voivodeship .
