Social Code (formerly Fifth Season ) is a Canadian alternative rock band from St. Albert , Alberta .
history
Social Code was founded in 1999 by high school friends Travis Nesbitt (vocals) and Logan Jacobs (bass) under the name Fifth Season . David Hesse (guitar) and Andrew Patrick (drums) made the quartet complete.
The first album "Patiently Waiting" was released in 2001. After the release, the band decided to change the band name to Social Code , as there was already a band in Italy called The Fifth Season .
In 2003 Ben Shillabeer replaced drummer Andrew Patrick. At the end of the same year, Social Code secured their first record deal with Interscope Records and released their first album, "A Year at the Movies" in May 2004.
A tour followed, on which the band appeared as an opener for Rise Against , Fall Out Boy , Deftones and Good Charlotte, among others . In 2004 Chris Ruddy replaced the guitarist David Hesse. However, he stayed in the band for only one year. In 2005 Social Code found their new guitarist in Morgan Gies.
In 2007 the band decided to produce the next album themselves. Social Code's previous experience with high profile producer Howard Benson ( The All-American Rejects , Hawthorne Heights , My Chemical Romance ) in Los Angeles gave the band the experience and confidence to try on their own. They built their own recording studio, which they spent the next year working on their second album, Social Code . This was published in Canada in May 2007 . The album was successful and the singles Bomb Hands , The Shortest Line , Everyday (Late November) and He Said, She Said were released. Social Code then toured with Sum 41 and Finger Eleven on their Strength within Numbers tour .
On April 3, 2009, the band announced that they had completed another album. This album was produced by John Travis ( Kid Rock , Buckcherry ) in Edmonton , Alberta , Canada and mixed by Mike Fraser ( AC / DC , Hinder , Aerosmith ). In advance, they released the single Satisfied on July 28, 2009 on iTunes . This was followed by a tour of Canada. In the same year the band got Steve Faulkner as a second guitarist for support.
