sTRX4 is a CPU socket from AMD with 4094 pins. It is intended for the third generation Threadripper processors with Zen 2 architecture , with which AMD serves the high-end segment.

TR4 supports DDR4 memory with quad-channel connection, has 88 PCIe 4.0 lanes and uses the TRX40 chipset .

The sTRX4 is designed in LGA technology. It is mechanically identical to the forerunner socket TR4 and socket SP3 for the server processors called EPYC , but incompatible with them due to different pin assignments.

Launch

The socket was presented on November 7, 2019, together with the Threadripper processors TR 3960X and TR 3970X.
