Quarry pond |
The Sodenmattsee is a quarry pond in the district of Sodenmatt belonging to the Bremen district of Huchting , which is used as a bathing lake . It is also used by sport fishermen . The lake was excavated in 1962 as part of the expansion of the B 75 between Bremen and Delmenhorst . The green areas at Sodenmattsee were created around the lake .
The lake was repeatedly closed to bathing in the 1990s due to the high number of germs. After several years of restoration, during which a solar-powered deep water aeration system (TIBEAN) was built in 1997 to improve the water quality , the lake has been usable again as a bathing lake since June 1998. In the course of the restoration in 1998, fishing jetties were created.
The lake is fed by groundwater . The water quality has been eutrophic since the restoration , before it was eutrophic to polytrophic.
On the west bank of the lake there is a beach with coarse-grained sand. The bathing area is monitored by a DLRG station. Outside of the bathing area, the bank is relatively close to nature, and partly paved.
