The New Weser is a lake in the town of Werder in the Bremen district Obervieland belonging district Habenhausen . The lake was created as a result of the Weser breakthrough in March 1981 . The flood bed with the lake in it has been ecologically redesigned; at the lake, in which there are several islands, there are steep bank breaks and shallow water zones.
The lake is fed by seeping water from the Weser and drained through a drainage pipe into the Lower Weser.
