The Hammer Becker meadows are a nature reserve in the district of Aumund-Hammersbeck the district Vegesack the municipality of Bremen .

General

The nature reserve is 25.8  hectares . It is bordered to the northwest and southwest of the conservation area designated grassland areas (sections "valley area of Beckedorfer Beeke north and west Hammer Becker Meadows") and to the north by the Lower Saxony nature reserve "Bremer Switzerland". The area is registered in the nature conservation book of the city of Bremen under number 6. The area has been a nature reserve since July 22, 1986. It was initially 27.2 hectares and was adjusted to its current size in March 2014. The responsible nature conservation authority is the Senator for Environment, Building and Transport.

The protected area is located in the Vegesacker Geest and borders the state border with Lower Saxony in the north . In the nature reserve can be found by hedges structured, species-rich and trees moist and Naßgrünland with reeds and tall herb communities . The nature reserve is traversed by the Beckedorfer Beeke as a near-natural Geestbach and lies in its floodplain area . In the south is the Pottkuhle, a former clay pit . It is surrounded by alder and willow bushes.

The grassland is partially grazed extensively with Angus cattle. The hedges are formed by blackthorn , blackberry, elder , hawthorn and dog roses . They are joined by ivy , hops and honeysuckle. Besides falter English oak , hornbeam , alder and willow. In the herbaceous layer of woody plants Primrose, Buttercup, settle moschatel , wood anemone , Great chickweed and Luzula campestris . On the wet meadows settle marsh marigold , the ragged robin , iris, marsh forget-me-not , Big and Small rattle , brooklime , Ajuga reptans and various sedges and rushes , including Carex Disticha , Carex vesicaria and thread rush, as well as the grape-like brome . The Hammersbecker Wiesen are home to various types of orchid , including the largest occurrence of the broad-leaved orchid in Bremen. On higher, less humid locations z. B. Meadowfoam , Creeping and Sharp Buttercup and Clover . In swamps settle Sedge , -tube water fennel and various grasses, including the flood end swaths . A biotope mapping in 2012 revealed 270 plant species.

The nature reserve is the habitat of various beetles and hoverflies . Numerous songbirds are native here, including z. B. Blackcap , Wren and Dunnock . The area is also important for meadow birds . Swamps and bodies of water are the habitat of various amphibians . The common frog and common toad occur in large populations.

The area is not accessible, but can be viewed from the adjacent public road.
