The village of Soldorf has almost 190 inhabitants. It is located about two kilometers northwest of Apelern in the center of the Soldorf basin named after him, between the foothills of the Süntel , Bückeberg and Deister mountain ranges . history

Soldorf was mentioned under the name Saltorp in 1150 . Ever since the year 1470 the counts to first let Holstein-Schauenburg and since 1647 the Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel in Soldorf saline win .

Landgrave Wilhelm VIII had the salt works modernized in the years 1731–1735. In Soldorf there was then a graduation tower on the southern outskirts, salt pans and an "art house" as a company building. For cost reasons, part of the production was relocated to an additional saltworks built in 1742 at the Maschmühle on the Rodenberger Aue in what is now the Rodenberg domain. A large water wheel constructed for this purpose conveyed the brine, which had been extracted from Soldorf via an underground pipeline along the Salzbach, to the graduation house by the mill. The graduation house was sold to Münder around 1875 and the Soldorf-Rodenberger salt production was discontinued. The brine flows since then through a pipeline to Bad Nenndorf . Only the street name "Am Salinenplatz" bears witness to the Soldorf saltworks.

The half-timbered building of the elementary school , which was erected in 1838 until after the Second World War , is a monument and has been restored by the Soldorf village association as the "old school" village community center .

On March 1, 1974 Soldorf was incorporated into the municipality of Apelern. In the village there is the volunteer fire brigade , the village club and the amateur playgroup Soldorf.
