Soledad Acerenza

Soledad Acerenza (born January 15, 1966 ) is a former Uruguayan athlete .

Career

Acerenza was active in the sprint and middle distance running competitions. She won bronze at the Junior South American Athletics Championships in 1985, over 200 meters behind her second-placed sister Claudia Acerenza . The following year she took part with the Uruguayan team in the 1986 South American Games in Chile . At the games she won the gold medal with the 4 x 100 meter relay and the 4 x 400 meter relay . In the individual competitions, she won bronze over 200 meters . In 1987 she was part of the squad at the Pan American Games in Indianapolis . There she took 6th place with the 4 x 400 meter relay. In the same year she won bronze over 400 meters at the South American Championships in 1987 in São Paulo . She was also a member of the squad at the South American Games in 1990 . At these games in Peru she won gold again with both the 100-meter and the 400-meter relay quartet. In 1991 she was a member of the Uruguayan delegation at the Pan-American Games in Havana in the individual competition over 800 meters in 13th place and placed with the relay on the 400-meter course in 6th position in the final standings.

Acerenza is still co-owner of the Uruguayan national record of the 4 x 400 meter relay today (as of June 15, 2015) . She worked on this as a member of the national relay on June 30, 1991 in Manaus, which required a time of 3: 40.19 minutes for the distance. The national record of the 4 x 100 meter relay is also valid. With Claudia Acerenza, Marcela Tiscornia , Margarita Martirena and her existing national relay, she ran a time of 46.51 seconds at the Ibero-American Championships in Seville on July 16, 1992 .
