Love and a criminal record (production or working title: cuckoo eggs and twice Hanne ) is a love story of the director Erwin Stranka , who is also the screenwriter participated, from 1963. In the lead role embodies Doris Abeßer the young intern Hannelore.

action

The young trainee Hannelore comes straight from the building academy and is supposed to gain first experience in construction in the brigade of the building service provider Fröhlich. To make matters worse, Hannelore is way ahead of her time and wants to be the only woman in this male domain. The men from the construction department, who are currently in the process of building a complex on Strausberger Platz in Berlin, are not very happy about a woman in their group, as befits their status. An exception is Hanne, who, not only because of the similarity of names, developed a great deal of sympathy for Hannelore from the start.

On May Day , Hanne gets drunk and starts a fight. As a result, he is arrested by the police. In addition, the authorities assume that he has committed a previously unexplained robbery. This is where Hannelore comes in again. Since she knows that Hanne has nothing to do with the robbery, she mobilizes his colleagues to help him out of this situation and to clarify the situation to the investigating authorities. The fact of entering a purely male domain again is new to her and initially unpleasant.

The plot changes, however, when it turns out that Hannes colleagues are very well able to adapt to new challenges, because now Hannes work colleagues are not only behind Hanne, but also behind Hannelore.

As a result, all unclear facts are cleared up and the plot of the film ends well . Accordingly, Hannelore and "her" Hanne have future prospects together.

Production notes

Cameraman Erich Gusto made realistic shots of what was happening on the construction site. For this purpose he assembled u. a. the camera on precast concrete parts that were floated in, as well as on freight elevators, and filmed from the cabin of a tower crane .

The scenario comes from the pen of Heinz Kahlau and the Potsdam judge Martha Ludwig, who won first prize in a DEFA competition for good comedy ideas. The film was considered DEFA's contribution to the Bitterfelder Weg . On January 27, 1963, the Ministry of Culture approved the performance. However, ideological objections to the film were subsequently raised. The film was referred back to the studio. a. he was accused of not having a differentiated grasp of the mental physiognomy of the workers and that the nature of new, socialist people was not taking shape. Eventually the film was shortened by 20 minutes, with motorcycle races on the construction site, skat games, binge drinking and a scene at a banana stand being deleted.

The film premiered on November 8, 1963 in the Babylon cinema in Berlin . It was first broadcast on the DFF on October 23, 1964. On September 21, 1996, In love and with a criminal record was broadcast for the first time in the ORB .

The subsequent rental took the Progress movie rental .

Others

In love and with a criminal record was the first film that was made under the direction of Erwin Stranka. Stranka previously studied at the film school in Prague . After the film was severely shortened and follow-up projects were not approved, Stranka resigned from DEFA and worked as a lathe operator in the Karl Marx Potsdam-Babelsberg locomotive construction department . It was not until 1971 that he followed the call to return to DEFA.

Reviews

"Despite the book's lack of ingenuity, it is a freshly and loosely staged love story that, in its improvised-looking gesture, clearly corresponds to the early works of the" Czech New Wave "."
