Somoskő was a Hungarian municipality and has been part of the city of Salgótarján in Nógrád County since 1977 .
geography
Somoskő is located 10 km north of Salgótarján city center, right on the Slovakian border.
history
The first written mention was made in 1341.
With the Treaty of Trianon of June 4, 1920, the place was assigned to Czechoslovakia . In 1924 Somoskő and Somoskőújfalu were given back to Hungary by the Czechoslovak-Hungarian border commission from Czechoslovakia, but the castle remained with Czechoslovakia.
In 1977 the previously independent municipality was incorporated into Salgótarján .
