Songo - La Maya is a municipality in the Cuban province of Santiago de Cuba . It is located northeast of the provincial capital on the northern slope of the Sierra Maestra in the Gran Piedra region . In the east it borders on the Municipios El Salvador and Niceto Pérez of the Province of Guantánamo , in the north on Segundo Frente , and in the west on San Luis . To the south is the Parque Baconao .
Agriculture and agro- industry are economically important for the region . Mainly coffee , sugar, edibles, vegetables, citrus fruits, milk and eggs are produced.
