Sonneborn (Gudensberg)
The Sonneborn is now a natural stone spring near the core town of Gudensberg in the Schwalm-Eder district in northern Hesse .
Geographical location
The source lies between the Gudensberg core town and the district of Dissen , around 500 m south-southeast of the Scharfenstein and around 1.15 km north-northeast of the Lamsberg in a field and meadow landscape at around 222 m above sea level. NHN . It arises from a fault in the earth and pours out around 60,000 liters of water every day , which is initially used for a Kneipp water treading facility. The water then flows as a small stream in a predominantly easterly direction and flows after about 1.3 km south of Dissen at around 183 m above sea level into the Eder tributary Sommerbach ( Lage ), which flows further northeast at Haldorf into the Eder.
history
The first documented mention of the spring, which originated east of the Bußbalgs , a small, 253 m high basalt knoll south of the Scharfenstein , dates back to 1495 as Soenborn . It was a water dispenser for the settlements of Unseligendissen and Mitteldissen, which fell desolate in the Middle Ages . Later it also supplied water for the steam locomotives of the Grifte – Gudensberger Kleinbahn , which opened in 1899 and finally closed in 1979 , which led past the source. The route of the rails dismantled in the early 1980s is now used as a hiking and cycling path that runs from Gudensberg to Grifte .
The spring itself was led into a covered shaft during the construction of the Federal Motorway 49 in 1975/76 , but was then exposed again in 1984 and taken to its current location, where a rest area with a refuge and a water treading basin fed by the spring water were set up. There are benches there and, since 2008, a barefoot path.
