Sotìr Ferrara (born December 5, 1937 in Piana degli Albanesi ; † November 25, 2017 ) was an Italian clergyman and Italo-Albanian bishop of the Piana degli Albanesi eparchy in Sicily .

Life

Sotìr Ferrara came from Piana degli Albanesi , a place in Sicily with a predominantly Albanian population . He was ordained a priest on November 19, 1961 .

After he was elected on October 15, 1988 Bishop of Piana degli Albanesi, it gave on 15 January 1989 in Piana degli Albanesi Cathedral secretary of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches , Archbishop Miroslav Stefan Marusyn the episcopal ordination ; Co -consecrators were Bishop Anárghyros Printesis , Apostolic Exarch of Greece , and Ercole Lupinacci , Bishop of the Lungro Eparchy . In the Sicilian Episcopal Conference Sotir Ferrara was the delegate for ecumenism and interreligious dialogue.

On April 8, 2013, Pope Francis accepted Ferrara's age-related resignation.
