Soumana Kalkoye

Soumana Kalkoye (* 25. March 1966 in Fandou Mayaki ; epithet: Foddo ) is a Nigerien officer .

Life

Soumana Kalkoye was born in the Tondikandia village of Fandou Mayaki. After primary school, he attended a military school in Bingerville from 1979 and from 1986 the technical lyceum in Maradi , where he completed his baccalaureate in 1988 . That year he became a member of the Nigerien armed forces . After attending the Royal Military Academy in Meknes , Moroccan , he passed his paratrooper exam .

With the rank of lieutenant , Kalkoye was part of the Nigerien contingent in the United Nations Support Mission to Rwanda from 1993 to 1995 . He then belonged to the 1st Parachute Company as. In 1996 he worked as the aide-de-camp of Boukary Adji , the prime minister of a transitional government. He was promoted to captain in 1997 and assigned to the presidential guard of President Ibrahim Baré Maïnassara . Baré Maïnassara was killed in a military coup in April 1999 . Soumana Kalkoye belonged to the Council of National Reconciliation , a military junta that ruled Niger until the end of 1999 after the president's death , along with 13 other officers . During this time Kalkoye received the rank of major .

After power was handed over to a democratically elected government, he continued his military career. From 2000 to 2003 he was in command of the 122nd Paratrooper Company, followed by an assignment abroad with the United Nations Mission for Stabilization in the Democratic Republic of the Congo . After various managerial functions in the ground forces, he became a lieutenant colonel in 2010 and succeeded Abdoulaye Adamou Harouna as commander of the 6th company.

Soumana Kalkoye is married and has two children.
