The area consists primarily of suburban residential and shopping districts, which are pervaded with many shopping centers, residential areas and complexes with apartments and condominiums. There are also some popular parks: Bradley Lake Park , South Hill Community Park / Nathan Chapman Memorial Trail, and Wildwood Park .

The area was first settled in the 1880s after a military road was built in the 1850s. Several logging camps, farms and hunting grounds sprouted up after the area was settled. The main route to the cities of Kapowsin and Eatonville (today's Meridian Avenue or SR 161 ) also ran here. Population growth was slow until the end of World War II; only after the roads to Tacoma, Fort Lewis, and Seattle were improved.
