The South Mapleton Drive is more than one kilometer long one of the longest streets in the residential area Holmby Hills in the west of Los Angeles . The street starts in the north on Sunset Boulevard and ends in the south on Club View Drive across from Holmby Park .

House number 594 South Mapleton Drive, commissioned by Aaron Spelling , is the largest residential building in Los Angeles County .

Known residents

At the southeast end of the street at number 594 - on the area between Holmby Park in the southwest and the Los Angeles Country Club in the southeast - is the largest house in Holmby Hills .

The actor couple Lex Barker (1919-1973) and Lana Turner (1921-1995) lived under number 120 in the 1950s until they separated in 1957 .

Actress Debbie Reynolds (* 1932) lived on property number 130 at the beginning of the 1950s and then from 1953 to 1960 her colleague Judy Garland (1922-1969) was married to the film producer Sidney Luft (1915-2005). The film producer Jesse Lasky (1880-1958) lived in the immediate vicinity under number 143 and another professional colleague, Hal Wallis (1899-1986), lived with his wife Louise Fazenda (1895-1982) under number 161. He later lived in the same house Singer Neil Diamond (born 1941).

The musician Sammy Cahn (1913-1993) lived under number 175 and the actor and director Mel Gibson (* 1956) lived under number 219 .

The property number 232 was inhabited by the actor couple Humphrey Bogart (1899-1957) and Lauren Bacall (1924-2014). After "Bogey's" death, Bacall sold the property.

The singer Bing Crosby (1903-1977) resided in the former villa of property number 594 from 1943 to 1964, and immediately after him from 1964 to 1983 Patrick J. Frawley, President of the Schick Razor Company . He sold the property to the film and television producer Aaron Spelling (1923-2006), who had the old mansion and two other houses demolished and built the largest residential building in Los Angeles County : a "castle" with about 120 rooms.
