Southern District FC ( Chinese 南 區 足球 會 / 南 区 足球 会 , English Southern District Football Club , officially: Southern District Recreation & Sports Association Ltd. , Southern District RSA for short ), also known as "The Aberdeeners", is a football club from Hong Kong . Southern District FC is officially the football division of the Southern District RSA general sports club . The club is based in the Southern District in the south of the island of Hong Kong and has played in the Hong Kong Premier League since the 2015/16 season . Since 2015, the main sponsorship has been through the local bus company Kwoon Chung Bus Holdings Limited , the soccer team in the HKPL has been run as Kwoon Chung Southern , also known as KC Southern ( 冠忠 南 區 / 冠忠 南 区 ). history
The association was founded in 2002. He started in the newly formed third division, the Hong Kong Third District Division. In 2006/2007 the club reached the promotion round for the first time as second in the table. With only 2 points you couldn't move up and continued to play in the third division. In 2009/2010 they started again in the promotion round. Out of 4 teams you came third and could not get promoted. Since Eastern waived the promotion, Southern District moved up and they rose to the second division. The first season of the second division ended with a fourth place. They celebrated their first cup success in the final of the Hong Kong Junior Challenge Shield in the Hong Kong Stadium against Double Flower . The 2011/2012 season ended behind the champions Hong Kong Rangers as second in the table and rose to the first division . Finally, Southern managed to move up to the top league in Hong Kong (HKPL), newly created in 2014, for the 2015/16 season , as the former candidates Sun Source FC and Hong Kong FC waived this opportunity.

Home stadium
The club does not have its own stadium and plays its home games in the public stadiums of the Hong Kong government. For the 2019/20 season, the 6,789-strong Mongkok Stadium in Kowloon will be the home of Southern FC. Before that, the Aberdeen Sports Ground ⊙ in Aberdeen in the Southern District was the club's home ground. The Aberdeen Sports Ground has a capacity of 9,000 spectators, of which 4,000 are covered. The public stadiums are owned by the Hong Kong Government . They are operated by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD). The Aberdeen Sports Ground stadium is used by both the football club and rugby clubs such as the South China Tigers .
