The Socialist Group of the Federal Assembly ( S ) ( French . Groupe Socialiste de l'Assemblée fédérale , ital . Gruppo socialista dell'Assemblea federale ) is a parliamentary group of the Swiss Federal Assembly . It is supported by the Social Democratic Party , which achieved 16.8% of the vote in the 2019 Swiss parliamentary elections . Since then the parliamentary group has had 39 national councilors and 9 councilors of states . In parliament it is abbreviated as "S".

Parliamentary group and party

The Socialist Group is independent of the parent party in its decisions, but it relies on the goals and programs of the Socialist Party. The nomination of the SP candidates for the Federal Council elections is the sole responsibility of the SP parliamentary group.

Parliamentary group leader

The parliamentary group is chaired by the Vaudois National Councilor Roger Nordmann . Ex officio on the parliamentary group's executive committee are the two social democratic federal councilors Simonetta Sommaruga and Alain Berset , the party president Christian Levrat and the ten federal parliamentarians elected by the parliamentary group Evi Allemann , Marina Carobbio Guscetti , Jacqueline Fehr , Yvonne Feri , Beat Jans , Daniel Jositsch , Ada Marra , Roger Nordmann , Carlo Sommaruga and Jean-François Steiert .
