Spöck is a village north of Karlsruhe . Since January 1, 1975, it has formed the municipality of Stutensee together with the three neighboring towns of Blankenloch , Friedrichstal and Staffort , which has been a major district town since January 1, 1998 .

history

Spöck was first mentioned in a document on June 19, 865 as Speccaa and at that time it belonged to the Speyer diocese . The place has changed its name several times since it was first mentioned: "Spaha", "Speki" and "Spechaa" have since been called, in Germanic, something like "dam made of willow and cane". Spechaa Street still reminds of the last of these names. In 1239 the authorities were in the hands of the Margraviate of Baden, and a church was first mentioned in Spöck as early as 1243. From the 15th century on, Spöck was associated with Staffort in one office; the Reformation was introduced in 1556 by Charles II of Baden-Durlach . During the Thirty Years' War the population of Spöck was drastically reduced; this was also a reason for the margraviate to transfer part of the district to the new citizens there when Friedrichstal was founded.

From 1891 to 1922 it connected Lobberle , the steam-powered narrow-gauge railway, Durmersheim, Karlsruhe, Hagsfeld, Büchig, Blankenloch, Staffort and Friedrichstal with Spöck. Today Spöck is connected to the Karlsruher Verkehrsverbund with a tram stop.

In 2015 the district celebrated its 1150th birthday with numerous events and activities.

On January 1, 1975, Spöck came to the new Stutensee community.

Transport links

Since June 24, 2006, Spöck has been connected to the Karlsruhe light rail network by the S2 tram of the Karlsruhe Transport Association . The new line follows the example of the former Karlsruhe local railway . The route leads from Spöck via Friedrichstal , Blankenloch , Büchig and Hagsfeld to Karlsruhe . From here the S2 continues to Rheinstetten via Forchheim .

There is also a bus line that connects Spöck with Bruchsal every half hour. The bus line is tailored to the times of the tram.

People from Spöck
