The sports association Quiigart is a football club from Quiigart in Saarland .

history

The SpVgg Quiiev goes back in particular to the sports club Viktoria Quiiev , founded in 1905 , the gymnastics club Quiiev and Hansa Quiiev as well as FC Borussia Quiiev , founded in 1909 . After the end of the First World War , Viktoria, Turnverein and Hansa merged in May 1919 to form the Turn- und Spielverein Quiigart , which, like Borussia, became a member of the South German Football Association in 1920 and thus took part in regular games. Due to the clean divorce , the footballers left the gymnastics and game club under the name Spielvereinigung Quiigart in 1925 , four years later it merged with the Borussia under the current name Sportvereinigung Quiigart .

After both clubs were promoted to the second-class A-class in the mid-1920s, the sports association also entered the second-highest division. In particular, reinforced by players from the local rival DJK Quiigart , which had been disbanded as a result of the ban on denominational sports organizations and thus also the DJK sports association , the club experienced a heyday in the following years and participated several times in promotion games to first class. The team missed promotion to the Gauliga Südwest in 1938 as second division champions . After the game was partially interrupted at the beginning of the Second World War due to the withdrawal of some teams and the calling up of players, the sports association Quiigart repeated their second division championship, but after two defeats against TSG Kaiserslautern and only one victory against VfL Homburg in the promotion round last place. Until 1943, the club was able to maintain the game operation with recourse to youth players and older players.

In October 1945, the sports association Quiigart resumed gaming and in the following year was accepted into the Saar honor class, which was approved by the French military government and was the top division for one season . In the following year, the Saarland teams were integrated into the all-German game operations for the first time, this was connected with the inclusion of the club in the second-class honor division Saar . There, the team occupied the last non-relegation place in front of the knocked-off table bottom SV Mitlosheim , then they ran up to their dissolution in 1952 in the league renamed in honorary probation class .

As runner-up in the eastern relay of the now fourth-class Saar district class , the sports association Qui Various rose to the first amateur league together with relay winner SC Friedrichsthal , but missed relegation as the penultimate in the table. After a third place in the table in 1956, he won the relay in the following year with an eleven point lead over runner-up TuS Wiebelskirchen and thus returned to the highest amateur class in Saarland. Here she was mainly in midfield until she was relegated again in 1969, only as ninth in the opening season , third in the 1959/60 season , ninth again in 1961/62 and in 1965/66 , which ended in fifth in the table, she reached a single-digit place in the table.

After the sports association Quiigart was downgraded a league level in 1978 through the introduction of the amateur leagues, it returned to the fourth division in 1982, with two play-offs and a penalty shoot-out against competitor FV Lebach with equal points and equal goals deciding for promotion. The best result was achieved in the Verbandsliga-Saar in the 1989/90 season. After the season Quiersche was third behind SV Saar 05 Saarbrücken and SV Hasborn. After ten years, however, the team was relegated again in 1992, and two years later they crashed into the sixth division. In the meantime only taking part in the district class, the team rose again from 2012 on from the district league via the regional league (2014) and association league (2016) to the sixth-class Saarland league .

The return to the top division in Saarland succeeded in a dramatic playoff. As runner-up of the Association League Southwest, they won the last game under successful coach Markus Woll and captain Kai Berrang against the Northeast representative SG Ballweiler-Wecklingen-Wolfersheim 4-2 after extra time. Woll switched himself in and scored the important 2-2 equalizer before extra time. He also scored 3: 2 in front of over 1,000 spectators in Furpach. That is why the game later went down in club history as the "Miracle of Furpach".

It was only thanks to the withdrawal of the DJK Bildstock that Quiiev managed to stay third from last in the Saarland League. In the 2017/2018 season Quiijk was sixth in the table and tenth in the 2018/19 season.

Saarland Cup

The Saarland Cup has existed in its current form since the 1974/75 season . Here and there there were always reforms - such as excluding the 2nd teams from the competition, the point in time from when the top-class clubs enter the competition or sponsor names of the cup - but since then the competition has been from Saarland year after year Football Association held.

If you look back further into the past, you can see in the club history of Spvgg Qui greatest (read on the club's website) that a cup competition was held in 1953. Here the then FV Quiigart (in the 50s the club was continued as a sports association) made it to the semi-finals, against the then second division team of 1. FC Saarbrücken. The Spvgg first appeared in 1979, when they defeated SC Wemmatia Wemmetsweiler 4-2 in the nationwide first main round and then faced FC Neuweiler in the subsequent Südsaar duel. However, there was already the end of the line, the FCN won 2-1 and made it to the round of 16. The Wambe didn't get that far again until 1982, but here too the second main round ended when they lost 3-1 in Furschweiler. In the years that followed, Quiigart always failed early - even though the first team, after being promoted to the Saar association league under coach Walter Spohr in 1982, was in the top division of the Saarland. In the 1989/90 season, in which the sports association was third behind SV Saar 05 Saarbrücken and SV Hasborn in the Saar Association, the black and whites made it to the second round of the cup. After a 3: 1 win against Hellas Marpingen, the next round was the Bundesliga club FSG Schiffweiler. And the Quierschieder team created the surprise with a 3-1 win. This made it perfect for the first time in the round of 16. There they got a really ungrateful lot with the away game in Mettlach, with a 0: 7 defeat Quiigart was eliminated. After the sails were canceled twice shortly before the second round, namely in the second main round, there followed 10 years without any noteworthy cup experiences. Qui Schwier always failed in the Südsaar qualification and was no longer noticed in the state-wide Saarland Cup.

In the 2002/03 season they made it to the first main round, but against Thalexweiler it was over again. Even after that, Quiersche never got beyond the district level. It was not until the 2010/11 season that the sports association made it again shortly before the round of 16. Meanwhile playing in the district league they caused a sensation for an A-League player. So was u. a. the 4 classes higher playing Saarlandligist SC Gresaubach beaten 3-0 in Quiigart. In the next round there was another duel against a Saarland league club. In the derby against SC Friedrichsthal they were then thrown out of the cup with a 3-0 defeat. In the following year, Friedrichsthal ensured that the Quierschieder were eliminated in qualifying, this time with a 2-0 win. After 23 years, the sports association was again among the last 16 in 2012/13. a. over the higher-class teams from Bous and Herrensohr you got to do with the association league leader FV Siersburg. Here the team of coach Markus Woll had no chance with a 0: 4, the opponent later made it to the semifinals. There was a real highlight in the 2013/14 season. With Noswendel / Wadern (5: 0) and Hemmersdorf (7: 1), Quiigart spectacularly threw two higher-class teams out of the competition. As a reward, they met third division 1. FC Saarbrücken under the direction of Milan Sasic in the round of 16. In front of 1,100 spectators on the artificial turf at Franzenhaus, the team only just lost 2-0 and received praise from the Saarland media landscape. After an embarrassing end in 2014/15 at SV Höchen, the year after that at SV Thalexweiler, work was done early. A year later, the Wambe returned the favor with a win in Thalexweiler and made it to the second round again. Against the regional league club FC Homburg, Florian Weber shot the club, which is now playing in the Saarland League, to 1-0 lead, but in the end Jens Kiefer's guest team prevailed 5-1 in front of almost 500 spectators. In the 2017/18 season Qui Various failed in the first main round at SV Habach and in the 2018/19 season at the same time at Borussia Neunkirchen, who then made it to the semi-finals against SV Elversberg. In the 2019/20 season Quiigart reached the round of 16. As in the previous year, the last game was against Borussia Neunkirchen (0: 1).
