Springfield is a city in the US state of Kentucky with a population of just over 2,500. The city was founded in 1793 and covers an area of 6.5 square kilometers. It is the administrative seat of Washington County .

history
Springfield was founded in 1793 and may have been named after sources in the area. The Richard Berry, Jr., House and Mordecai Lincoln House are historic buildings in Springfield and are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
