The magazine spw - magazine for socialist politics and economy was founded in 1978 by members of the SPD , mainly from the ranks of the young socialists , based on a magazine of the same name (from 1923 to 1928) by the social democratic Reichstag member and lawyer Paul Levi as a magazine of one of the Marxist movements in the SPD founded.

Today spw is a political magazine of people whose thinking is in the tradition of the socialist left and wants to make it useful for the 21st century. They have their roots in social democracy and advocate a cross-party discourse among radical reformers. Among others, members of the Forum Democratic Left 21 publish in spw . spw appears six times a year with a print run of 2000 copies (as of July 2015). The magazine is a cooperation partner of the Internet portal Linksnet .
