Stéphane Kerecki (* 1970 in Paris ) is a French jazz bassist.

Live and act

Kerecki first began studying economics and then studied music at the same time at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris , where he had lessons from Jean-François Jenny-Clark , Riccardo Del Fra and Jean-Paul Céléa . His main influences include Dave Holland , Charlie Haden and especially Scott LaFaro .

Kerecki began his career with Steve Potts ; since then he has worked a. a. with musicians like Daniel Humair , Denis Colin , Guillaume de Chassy , Yaron Herman , François Jeanneau , Sheila Jordan , Steve Lehman , Ronnie Lynn Patterson , Michel Portal , Thomas Savy . He is also the bass player in the Paris Jazz Big Band . Since 2003 he has led his own trio, which includes Matthieu Donarien (saxophone) and Thomas Grimmonprez (drums); Since 2011 he has been working with his quartet from Émile Parisien , Yaron Herman and Ziv Ravitz (drums).

Awards

In 2001, Kerecki was runner-up in the Soloist Prize of the Concours national de jazz de la Défense . The second album of his trio, Focus Dance , received the Académie Charles-Cros Prize ; the third album Houria was nominated in 2009 for the Victoires du Jazz in the Révélation instrumentale category. In 2005 Jazzman magazine selected him as one of the 125 talents pour demain .
