Live and act

Emile Parisien attended from the age of eleven years, the Collège de jazz of Marciac . There he learned from Pierre Boussaguet, Guy Lafitte and Christian "Tonton" Salut. From 1996 he deepened his knowledge at the Conservatory of Toulouse . There he studied both classical and contemporary music and composition . Over the years he has also played with jazz people like Wynton Marsalis , Christian McBride , Johnny Griffin and Bobby Hutcherson at the annual Jazz Festival in Marciac .

Parisien moved to Paris in 2000 and founded his own quartet with Julien Touery (piano), Ivan Gélugne (double bass) and Sylvain Darrifourcq (drums). With compositions that are somewhat inspired by classics like Hector Berlioz , Igor Stravinsky , Arnold Schönberg , Richard Wagner or by jazz greats like John Coltrane or Wayne Shorter , the result is an expressionistic style in which improvisation dominates. Energetically swinging bebop , friendly tamed free jazz, melodic allusions to French and North African musical heritage as well as Stravinsky and Co can be found in the compositions and concert runs. With his own combo in a quartet or quintet line-up, he often played on tours or festivals all over Europe, sometimes with excellent reviews.

Parisien worked in France and other countries with Michel Portal , Jacky Terrasson , Yaron Herman , Paco Séry , Rémi Vignolo , Vincent Peirani and Manu Codjia, among others . As a sideman he is a member of Georgi Kornazov's "Horizons Quintet", which brought out the album Viara in 2008 . He is also part of Vincent Peirani's quintet Living Being , which was expanded for the 2013 SWR Jazz Meeting . In 2017, he presented the album Saison 3 in the Trio DaDaDa with Roberto Negro and Michele Rabbia .
