Vincent Peirani (born April 24, 1980 in Nice ) is a French jazz musician ( accordion , clarinet ) and composer .

Live and act

Vincent Peirani began playing the accordion when he was eleven. A year later he also turned to the classical clarinet, which he first studied at the Conservatory in Nice. At the age of 17 he developed cancer. His mother had died of cancer the year before. In the hospital he heard music by Bill Evans and Sixun and discovered jazz. After graduating from school, he went to the CNSM Paris , where he studied clarinet and solfeggio . Between 1994 and 1998 he received several international awards; in 1998 he won the Prix ​​d'Accordéon Classique of the CNSM Paris. In the same year he turned to jazz; in 2000 he was awarded first prizes in the jazz class of the Paris Conservatory.

Peirani worked in France a. a. with Michel Portal , Daniel Humair ( Sweet and Sour , 2011), Vincent Lê Quang , Renaud Garcia-Fons , Louis Sclavis ( Dans la nuit ), François Jeanneau , Jean-Philippe Muvien ( Air Libre ), Olivier Calmel ( Empreintes , 2007) , Youn Sun Nah , Denis Colin , Anne Paceo and Matthieu Saglio . In the field of jazz, Peirani took part in 23 recording sessions between 2003 and 2019, first on an album by the European Jazz Youth Orchestra ( Swinging Europe 2003 ). In 2010 he presented his debut album Gunung Sebatu with his own compositions. He also played in a duo with the cellist François Salque, with whom he recently released the Tanguillo album . With his wife, the singer Serena Fisseau, who was already involved in Gunung Sebatu , the duo album So Quiet (2019) was created.

At the SWR Jazz Meeting 2013, Peirani had the opportunity to expand his quintet Living Being to include trumpeter Mathias Eick and singer Leïla Martial ; at the tenth Jazzahead ! Festival in Bremen he presented the quintet Living Being on the French Night . In 2019 he performed in the Berlin Philharmonic.

Prizes and awards

In May 2015, Peirani received an ECHO Jazz both as an instrumentalist and for his duo with Émile Parisien . He was also awarded an ECHO Jazz for the albums Thrill Box and Tandem .
