Anne Paceo (* 1984 ) is a French jazz - drummer , bandleader and composer .

Live and act

Anne Paceo grew up in Côte d'Ivoire , in 1994 she began performing as a drummer in France, and in 1998 with Stéphane Kochoyan at the Les enfants du jazz festival in Barcelonnette . In the following years she worked a. a. with Kenny Garrett , Ravi Coltrane and Dianne Reeves . In the early 2000s she went on tour with various funk, soul, jazz and rock bands, and in 2003 she took lessons from Sunny Murray . From 2005 she played in the band of guitarist Christian Escoudé , on whose albums Catalogne and Joue Brassens: Au bois de mon coeur she participated. She also worked with Géraldine Laurent , in the 6tet with Pierre Boussaguet and André Villéger .

From 2005 Paceo studied at the Paris Conservatoire de Paris with Dré Pallemaerts , Glenn Ferris , Hervé Sellin , Riccardo Del Fra and François Théberge . In 2012 Paceo worked with his own quintet, which consisted of Antonin-Tri Hoang , Pierre Perchaud , Leonardo Montana and Stéphane Kerecki , from 2016 with the Quartet Circles . In 2020, this formation included Julien Lourau (tenor saxophone), Isabel Sörling (vocals) and Tony Paeleman (piano) at the New York Winter Fest . Since 2019 she has mostly been on the road with her sextet Bright Shadows . She also worked on projects such as Myanmar Meets Europe , from which the live album Fables of Shwedagon resulted, and in the Norrbotten Big Band ; she can also be heard on albums by China Moses , Raphaël Imbert and Marion Rampal.

Awards

In 2006 she won various youth competitions, including first prize at the Festival de Jazz at the Festival St Germain des Prés with her band Triphase . In 2009 she received the Django d'Or as a “new musical talent”. In 2011 she was awarded the Les Victoires du Jazz prize in the category "French New Discovery (" Révélation ") of the Year" (Prix Frank Ténot ); In 2016 and 2019 she was "Artist of the Year" at Victoires du Jazz .
