Louis Freichel
Louis Freichel (born December 21, 1921 in Frankfurt am Main ; † November 22, 1997 ibid) was a German jazz musician ( piano , trumpet , trombone , vibraphone , drums ) and songwriter.
Freichel studied at the Frankfurt University of Music and worked as a musician from 1939. In 1943 he became a member of the Hotclub Combo and from 1945 appeared with the Hotclub Sextet . He also played in Frankfurt with Benny de Weille . From 1949 he was part of the dance orchestra of the Hessischer Rundfunk run by Willy Berking and Heinz Schönberger . In 1955 he appeared with Chet Baker ( Early Chet: Chet Baker in Germany 1955-1959 ). He also played with the Georg Glas ensemble and can be heard on records with the Two Beat Stompers , Willy Berking and Heinz Schönberger's Main Stream Power Band . He composed for Vico Torriani (whom he also accompanied with his ensemble), Anita Lindblom , Peter Orloff , Peggy Noire and Ulla Norden . In 1994 he was awarded the Johanna Kirchner Medal of the City of Frankfurt am Main.
