Michele Rabbia

Michele Rabbia (* 1965 in Turin ) is an Italian jazz drummer.

Rabbia began playing the drums while studying at the Liceo Musicale de Savigliano under the direction of Giorgio Artoni , the drummer of the Parma Theater. At the same time he took lessons from Enrico Lucchini . From 1986 he studied drums at Berklee College of Music in Boston with Alan Dawson and Joe Hunt .

In the early 1990s he returned to Italy and became a member of the Aires Tango group, founded in 1994 . In 1995 he met Antonello Salis , with whom he gave concerts and recorded a trio CD (with Javier Girotto ). He also worked as a studio musician with Sainkho Namtchylak , Dominique Pifarély , Michel Godard , Eugenio Colombo , Rita Marcotulli and others.

In 1997 he became a member of the quartet founded by Paolo Damiani with Sandro Satta and Carlo Mariani . In 1999 he founded a duo with the pianist Stefano Battaglia , which was expanded to the Atem Trio by the French violinist Dominique Pifarély . In 2001 he recorded an album in Paris in a formation that was expanded into a quintet by Vincent Courtois and Michel Godard.

Furthermore, Rabbia is a member of the Michel Godard Trio with the singer Linda Bsiri and works in duo formations with Pifarély and Vincent Courtois (also in a trio with Marilyn Crispell ). In the Trio DaDaDa with Émile Parisien and Roberto Negro , he released the album Saison 3 in 2017 (album of the year 2018 at Les Victoires du Jazz ).
