The former Roman Catholic church Saint-Jacques-du-Mont-aux-Malades in Mont-Saint-Aignan , a French commune in the Seine-Maritime department in the region of Normandy , was built in the 12th century. The Romanesque church on Rue Louis-Pasteur has been a protected architectural monument ( Monument historique ) since 1971 .

history

The church was originally built as the chapel of a leper hospital in the first half of the 12th century. Later it was used as a parish church, after the French Revolution it stood empty and fell into disrepair. In 1969 the secular church was bought by the community and renovated in 1971/72.

description

The former two aisles flanked nave has four yokes with a length of 18.50 meters and a width of 6.50 meters. The nave is structured by unprofiled arcades with double arches on capitals decorated with buds or stylized animal figures above slender pillars . The light comes in through strongly sloping windows. The room is covered flat. The choir and apse were demolished in the 19th century.
