Romanesque capital in the church

The church Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens (German St. Peter in chains ) is a Romanesque parish church in the municipality of Curbigny in the Saône-et-Loire department in the historic region of Burgundy ( France ), which was built in the 12th century.

history

The church of Curbigny has the patronage of the legend ( St. Peter ad Vincula ) of St. Simon Peter , which suggests that the parish was very old . The church was subordinate to the Cluny monastery and was administered by the priory in Paray-le-Monial . It was changed a lot at the end of the 19th century.

architecture

The church has a one- nave hall in the west , which was built in 1889. The four yokes are closed by a belted barrel . The straps rest on short wall pilaster strips . The adjoining choir with a semicircular apse is connected by a pointed arch that rests on half-column templates with capitals . The choir is spanned by a dome that rests on trumpets . The adjoining apse has a simple dome and receives light through three narrow windows, which are accompanied by a pilaster position with round arches.

The capitals show small figures with thin bodies and too large heads. These forms are repeated on the consoles of the exterior building.

The square tower with a slate-covered pyramid roof has round-arched biforic windows on the bell storey .
