The Catholic Church of St-Wendelin in Albé , a French parish in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ), was built in the third quarter of the 18th century and changed at the end of the 19th century.

The church consecrated to St. Wendelin was built on the site of a previous building from 1578 because the chapel had become too small for the growing number of parishioners. The village of Erlenbach has long been part of the parish in Villé .

The substructure of the tower still comes from the previous building. The baroque nave was built in 1752. The plastered hall has a choir with a semicircular end. The sacristy was later added between the tower and the choir. The four-axis nave is illuminated by arched windows and closed off by a flat ceiling.

In 1864, the bell tower was raised according to plans by the architect Antoineringenisen .

Furnishing

  • Wooden pulpit from the time the church was built with the depiction of the apostles on the pulpit

  • Three altars from the 18th century

Leaded glass window

The stained glass windows in the nave and choir date from 1881 and depict saints: Richardis , Odilia , Arbogast of Strasbourg , Anna , Florentius of Strasbourg and Joseph of Nazareth . They were created in the workshop of Hoener Père et Fils in Nancy .
