He created a directory in which an "Ecclesia Welitschtz" was named. In 1685 the old church burned down. Around 1700 a new church was built, which was dedicated to St. Anne.

The current church was built in the years 1775 to 1777. In the records of the master carpenter John Barnickel from Rothenkirchen is that on June 8, 1775 "the cornerstone benediziert been laid and was". The Way of the Cross in the church was added in 1791.

In an upper technical report from Bayreuth in 1934 it can be read: “The little church in Welitsch is a very interesting building. The portal is artistically extremely charming in the Rococo style, as are the doors. Inside are valuable side altars , one with an artificial tree on whose branches the 14 helpers stand. Even the main altar, which individual details from the Empire style has and all its form belongs with bodies after the Empire period, is worth preserving. "

Renovations were necessary in the last decades of the 20th century . After the church pond, the former moat , was removed, the foundations were re-established; the church was drained, the sandstone floor from 1914 renewed and the interior adapted to liturgical needs. New windows were installed. A third bell could be purchased in addition to the existing bells from 1501 and 1519.

The high altar , erected in 1823 by the Burgkunstadter sculptor Hetzelt, shows the church's patroness, holy mother Anna, in the middle. In addition, Saint Joseph , Saint Joachim and the diocese saints Heinrich and Kunigunde are depicted. In the middle, the Holy Trinity crowns the altar with a halo .

The Way of the Cross contains 15 stations as a special feature. The last station shows Saint Helena finding the cross.
