The Catholic village church St. Blasius is in Obernfeld , a municipality in the district of Göttingen in Lower Saxony . It is located in the center of Obernfeld, in the street "Kirchgasse 5". The church named after St. Blaise von Sebaste belongs as a branch church to the parish “St. John the Baptist ”with its seat in Seulingen , in the deanery Untereichsfeld of the Diocese of Hildesheim .

history

The baroque hall church , built from sandstone in 1629 , was built on the foundation stones of the previous church from 1473 after it was destroyed. Its rich endowment received the in about 165 meters above sea level located church in the 18th century. The baroque high altar and the side altar with pietà and rococo pulpit also decorate the room ecclesiastically. The prospectus of the organ built by Johannes Creutzburg from 1723 is also well preserved. A new work from the organ building company Krell from Duderstadt was installed in 1913 and 1914.

On April 27, 1913, pastor Heinrich Leupke initiated the establishment of the journeyman's association , from which the local Kolping family was formed, which later had a bell tower with the old bell and a memorial plaque erected in the churchyard of St. Blasius for the 100th anniversary .

In addition to church services , religious concerts also take place in the church.

Since March 1, 2004, the church has belonged to the then newly established dean's office in Untereichsfeld, previously it belonged to the dean's office in Gieboldehausen-Lindau. From September 1, 2010, the church belonged to the parish of the "Annunciation" based in Germershausen , the parish of "St. Blasius ”was canceled in this context. Since November 1st, 2014 the church belongs to the parish “St. John the Baptist ”based in Seulingen.
