St. Claret-Ziegelhof Church

The St. Claret-Ziegelhof Church is a Roman Catholic parish church in the 22nd district of Vienna, Donaustadt, at Quadenstrasse 53.

history

A design by the IGIRIEN studio community of architects Werner Appelt, Franz E. Kneissl and Elsa Prochazka was realized. This design, known as the church multipurpose hall , was first in the Donaustadt district in 1977 with the parish church of St. Christoph am Rennbahnweg in the Rennbahnweg community building , and a second time in the parish of the Groß-Jedlersdorf parish church as St. Michael pastoral care station in the Dr.-Koch- Hof and a third time in 1981 with the parish church of St. Claret-Ziegelhof in Quadenstrasse at the Ziegelhofstrasse community building.

The patronage of the church is subordinate to St. Anthony Maria Claret , the founder of the order of the Claretians . The parish is run by the Claretian Order. Pastor Erwin Honer started a Catholic community center with two brothers in 1975 in the Ziegelhof community building. In 2002 Erwin Honer became dean of the Donaustadt city dean's office .

Church multipurpose hall

The building forms a square with an outer, equally wide, somewhat lower side room layer, in the middle of which a square hall forms the actual church space. The hall appears in the roof as an extra-wide lantern with the exposure windows, while the facade of the adjoining rooms encircles the building with arcade-like arches.

Individual evidence

  1. The development of the three multi-purpose halls as churches in the Donaustadt and Floridsdorf in Vienna attracted great national and international interest in the 1970s. As an example of the three realizations, the parish church of St. Claret was shown in the exhibition Holy Times: Vienna Church Construction after 1945 December 13, 2007 - January 14, 2008 in the Architekturzentrum Wien .
