St. Dionysius

St. Dionysius is a Catholic parish church in Belm in the district of Osnabrück , Lower Saxony . The Romanesque village church is a listed building .

The single nave nave with arched windows was built in the 13th century. The tower attached to the west with a barrel vault dates from the 12th century. A stepped portal leads into the interior between double columns and cloverleaf arches. This is followed by two nave bays and then a choir that has just closed . There are decorative discs on the round ribs of the cross vaults. Plastic mythical animals are depicted in the crowns of the belts and shield arches .

Furnishing

The most remarkable pieces of equipment are the sandstone baptismal font from the second half of the 13th century, the wooden sculptures of the apostle Andreas and the holy bishop Wiho from 1520 from the workshop of the master of Osnabrück and the master of Belmer Andreas, as well as a votive panel with passion scenes .
