The Catholic branch church of St. Georg in Pelka , a district of the Upper Bavarian municipality of Hohenkammer in the Freising district , was built at the end of the 15th century. The church consecrated to St. George , standing on a hill outside the village, is a protected architectural monument .
architecture
The church consists only of the choir with a yoke and a 3/8 end and the tower that sits on the west wall. It is supported by sloping walls covered with shingles. The hall building , which is essentially Gothic , underwent a Baroque renovation in the 17th century . The inside is covered by a reticulated vault. The pear ribs are highlighted in color, they rest on corbels and meet at the top in two keystones that are adorned with the monogram IHS and with the hand of God .
Furnishing
The high baroque altar from the second half of the 17th century consists of black wood with lots of gilding on the edges. On the somewhat wider predella stands the large figure of St. Georgs. The saint sits on a white horse and thrusts his lance into the throat of a dragon. The top part of the altar is framed by two vertical gables with entablature and semicircular segmented gable . Angels or cherubins float on all three gables . In the round niche there is a half figure of St. Catherine of Alexandria .
